Royal Windsor Racecourse, as its often referred to, is a busy and popular thoroughbred horse racing venue in Berkshire. Staging mostly Flat racing, famously on most summer Monday nights, Windsor sits close to both the M3 and M4 as well as a couple of railway stations making it an ideal spot for event and racegoers.
Windsor is one of only two tracks in Britain shaped as a figure of eight. The unique layout, allied with the course being right by the River Thames and even being accessible for visitors by boat, helps to make it a great regular venue for sports fans, music fans and event organisers.
Windsor Racecourse has real history. Opened as far back as 1866, the track has a varied past and was once a popular National Hunt track. Jumps racing in fact returned in 2024 adding more variation to this venue, one that has also been used for movie and TV filming as well as its regular non-racing events.
More Than Just a Racing Venue
Lots of exciting events are staged at Windsor throughout the year. Charity runs and cycles, wedding fairs, fireworks shows, Oktoberfest, family fun days and many more events are staged regularly. Windsor sits essentially on its own island. The track is within 165 acres of the Berkshire countryside making it rather idyllic, with the passing boats also adding to the atmosphere.
Most of the best events are staged in the spring and summer months. Windsor lends itself to a great outdoor, casual and warm environment no matter the event. These events can and do include gigs performed by some of the top stars in music.

Windsor: Flavours of India Race Night
Windsor’s famous themed Monday race nights are back on Monday 18th May with the Flavours of India Race Night. Check out all the delights, sights, sounds and flavours of the best traditional Indian cuisine, Bollywood dancing and more. As well as this, there will be some exciting thoroughbred action on the track throughout.
Gates open at 3:20pm for a first race off time of 5:20pm. The last race is currently due off at 8:20, though all timings are subject to change.
Windsor: Summer Opening Party 2026 ft. Decade Explosion
Royal Windsor kicks off its summer officially on May 23rd with the Summer Opening Party featuring Decade Explosion. A mixture of sport and music is on hand. After some competitive racing action, the party starts with Decade Explosions, a DJ set bringing together tunes from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 00’s. Though still to be confirmed, gates are due to open at 3:30pm for a first race at 5:30. The final race is due off at 8:35 and the party starts straight after.
Windsor: Ibiza Rewind Race Night
Another amazing Monday meet will be held at Windsor on June 1st: Ibiza Rewind – Where Racing Meets Rhythm. Sample the horse racing as well as all the riverside atmosphere and the Balearic beats. Real, Ibiza classics are the order of the day – as well as the betting and the cocktails of course.
This all-out sporting and music summer celebration is not one to be missed. As it stands, gates are due to open at 3:40pm for a first race at 5:40. The final race is due off at 8:45 before the music starts, but all times are subject to change.
Windsor: Ladies Day 2026 ft. 70’s Disco Inferno
Windsor’s Ladies Day for 2026 features ‘Disco Inferno’, a post-race celebration of brilliant 70’s music classics. A mixture of fashion, tunes, betting and horses is on the cards.
At least six races will be on the card before the music kicks off on the lawn, all set among Windsor’s outstanding riverside location. Gates are due to open at 11:35am for a first race at 1:35pm. The final race is set for 5:40 before the 70’s music takes over for the rest of the evening.
Windsor: An Evening of Queen
A brilliant summer Monday evening of sport and music is coming up at Windsor. On June 29th, a great card of Flat racing is complemented by Supersonic Queen – one of the best-known Queen tribute bands. Expect to hear all the major hits. You can watch the racing then sing along to Don’t Stop Me Now, Radio Ga Ga, Bohemian Rhapsody and many more.
Gates are due to open at 3:45pm and the first race is at 5:45. The final event on the track is set for 8:45, subject to change, with Supersonic Queen taking to the stage after the racing is over.
Windsor: Rum & Reggae with Levi Roots
Windsor hosts its Sizzling Hot Rum & Reggae Racenight once again on July 14th. The brilliant Levi Roots will be on hand, offering Caribbean cooking courses before racing and then a full reggae DJ set after the turf action is over.
This is the ideal summer Monday race night. This is all about food, music and sport with gates due to open at 4:00pm. The first race is due off at 6:00, the last race at 9:00 and then the show can truly start.
Windsor: Soul & Motown with the Edwin Starr Band
Windsor hosts a brilliant race night on July 20th. The excitement on the track is followed by some brilliant live music as the Edwin Starr Band plays out an awesome Soul & Motown show. The band will once again belt out some top Northern Soul classics as well as plenty other classics from the 60’s and 70’s Motown scene. Gates are due to open at 3:40pm for a first race at 5:10. The final race is scheduled for 8:40 in the evening before the band takes to the stage.
Windsor: ABBA - The Party
Windsor hosts its legendary ABBA Racenight once again on August 3rd. This time ABBA the Party, one of the best tribute acts around, take to the stage after racing to sing all the top tunes attributed to one of the best pop acts of all time.
Look out for great racing, great food, glamorous costumes and nostalgic ABBA tunes on what will be a brilliant race night. Gates are open at 3:45pm for racing at 5:45. The last race is due off at 8:28, subject to change, before the band hits the stage.
