One the most historic racecourses in Britain is Bath, an ever-popular Flat racing venue located on Lansdown Hill. Looking down over Bath, Somerset, this track boasts superb panoramic views of the county. On the schedule since the 1700’s, Bath is probably best known for being the highest Flat course in the country. At 780 feet above sea level, watering isn’t possible here, with the always drying conditions often leading to ‘firm’ ground – something that makes this somewhat of a specialist’s track.
The course itself is a left-handed oval with a long, uphill home stretch, which means racing here is testing and always competitive. We usually see around 20 fixtures each year, run during the traditional Flat turf season between spring and autumn. Always fostering a relaxed atmosphere on race days, we don’t see the massive hustle and bustle here like we do at some of the bigger tracks. This is definitely one for the casual racegoers.
Bath has also done well to diversify. Throughout the year, this venue hosts numerous hospitality events, parties and other non-racing attractions. Fireworks nights, weddings, Christmas parties, and birthdays are all par for the course here. Now modernised after a 2016 redevelopment programme, the facilities here are excellent, offering something for everyone.

Bath: Absolute Country Raceday
Country music takes over Bath Racecourse on September 12th as the venue launches its new Absolute Country Raceday. The event brings together an afternoon of flat racing and an evening of live entertainment, with country-inspired celebrations continuing after the final race. Headlining the post-racing programme is Wallen & Combs, a tribute show dedicated to modern country stars Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen. Seven races are scheduled, with the first contest getting underway at 1:20pm.

Caribbean-inspired entertainment takes over Bath Racecourse on August 15th for its annual Rum & Reggae Racenight. The fixture pairs an evening of flat racing with live reggae music and DJ sets, creating a relaxed summer atmosphere once the action on the track has concluded. With six races scheduled, racegoers can enjoy both sporting action and post-racing entertainment as the venue transforms into a lively outdoor party. Gates open at 3:46pm, with racing from 5:46pm.
Bath: The Wurzels Racenight 2026
Few racecourse events capture the spirit of the West Country quite like Bath’s Wurzels Racenight on July 31st. A longstanding favourite at the venue, the evening pairs a card of flat racing with a live performance from the Somerset folk legends, known for hits including Combine Harvester and I Am A Cider Drinker. Racing begins at 5:35pm, with the six-race programme followed by music and celebrations as the summer evening continues.
