Beverley Racecourse is one of Yorkshire’s oldest and most charming sporting venues, sitting on the picturesque Westwood, just outside the historic market town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Racing has taken place here since the late 17th century, giving the course well over 300 years of history, while its elevated position provides sweeping views across the surrounding countryside.
Unlike many modern tracks, Beverley has retained a traditional feel, making it a favourite with racegoers looking for a relaxed day at the races. The course is a right-handed Flat track, featuring a downhill bend into the home straight before an uphill finish that regularly rewards horses with plenty left in reserve. Its sharp five-furlong course is particularly well known among punters, with the low draw often proving advantageous in sprint races, making Beverley a venue where course knowledge can pay dividends.
Racing is staged exclusively on the Flat between spring and late summer, with around 20 fixtures each year. Beverley’s biggest meetings include the Listed Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes, the Charlie Wood Stakes and the long-established Hilary Needler Trophy, while its ever-popular Ladies’ Day is one of the social highlights of Yorkshire’s racing calendar.
Away from the racing, Beverley Racecourse has become an important events venue for the region. Weddings, conferences, private celebrations and corporate hospitality all feature heavily throughout the year, while themed race days, family entertainment, live music and seasonal celebrations help attract visitors beyond the sport itself. Beverley Racecourse will be having the last of the Summer Saturdays on 29 August with Craig Charles DJ, known for his popular funk and soul beats, performing a 60-90 minute set after racing. Gates open at 11.39 with the first race at 13.39 and the last at 17.13.

Beverley: Ladies Day presented by Porsche Centre Hull
Ladies Day at Beverley Racecourse is being sponsored by Porsche Centre Hull and is a popular event at Beverley that tends to sell out. Expect impressive dresses and big hats with added entertainment. Along with the chance to win ‘Most Stylish Racegoer’, racegoers will also hopefully pick a few winners with the first race at 14.15 and the last race at 16.45.
Beverley: Family Fun Raceday
Beverley Racecourse is hosting a Family Fun Raceday on Saturday 28 July where you can enjoy the races with added entertainment for the whole family. There will be a Big Top for circus fun with juggling, plate spinning, tightrope walking and Gyro spinning. There will also a fun fair with rides and stalls, along with face painting, food, drinks and more! The picnic enclosure gates open at 12.15 with the first race at 14.45 and the last race at 17.40.
Beverley: Summer Saturday ft. Chris Moyles DJ
Saturday racing on 4 July at Beverley Racecourse will feature a 7 racecard, along with plenty of food and drinks. The gates open at 12.17 with the first race at 14.17 and the last race at 17.40. DJ Chris Moyles, popular Radio X Breakfast Show host, will be performing a 60-90 minute set after the racing, featuring 90s classics.
