Sandown Park’s brilliant schedule of summer evening racing and music continues with Billy Ocean live on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026. Ocean is a bona fide legend. His music career, still going strong after more than 40 years, has been outstanding and he still delivers a show to remember full of energy and soul.
Listen out for classics such as Red Light Spells Danger, When the Going Gets Tough and Caribbean Queen after racing on July 29th. Make sure you’re here to enjoy a perfect evening of horse racing and awesome live music without the stunning surrounds of Sandown Park. At least six races will take place before Billy Ocean gets on stage. Gates are due to open at 4pm so you can make the most of what promises to be a great afternoon and evening.
Billy Ocean Live and Sandown Racing Timings & Location
If you’re arriving at Sandown on July 29th to see Billy Ocean perform live, you also get the bonus of some great thoroughbred turf action. The track is easy to find coming from Esher railway station which can be accessed in 25 minutes from London Waterloo. There are some outstanding facilities to take advantage of at Sandown, no matter your reason for visiting. All enclosures, the grandstand and the hospitality boxes offer great food and drink as well as terrific views of the track. Wherever you choose, you’ll get a great experience.
Racing and Billy Ocean Live timings for Sandown Racecourse on July 29th:
- Gates open at 4:00pm
- First race is due off at 5:45pm
- Last race is due off at 8:30pm
- Billy Ocean Live is due to begin at 8:45pm
Billy Ocean and his band will be live on stage for around 90 minutes, finishing up at 10:15pm. Timings can be adjusted slightly should the final race overrun. The stage is easy to find for the show. Billy Ocean will be appearing in front of the main grandstand. The stage setup is next to the trackside lawns, with all attendees able to get a great view.
Horse Racing Action Before Billy Ocean Live
Those coming to see Billy Ocean do his thing can also watch some outstanding racing action. One of Britain’s most acclaimed racecourses also offers us one of the best backdrops in sport. Look out for some of the country’s top trainers and jockeys being in attendance. No official race schedule is available yet, but we expect at least six races on the card. You can get all the runners and riders from your racecard. Last year’s race schedule, which will be wholly or mostly replicated, was:
- Race 1 – 1-mile apprentice handicap
- Race 2 – 5-furlong nursery handicap
- Race 3 – 7-furlong novice stakes
- Race 4 – 1-mile handicap
- Race 5 – 1-mile, 2-furlong fillies’ handicap
- Race 6 – 1-mile, 6-furlong handicap
Sandown boasts some of the best views in racing. If you get close to the rails, you will be as close as is possible in British racing to see the runners as they cross the finish line. Watch your horse on the big screen before it enters the straight and listen to the commentary via the PA system. The latest odds will also be shown throughout the evening.
Once all the presentations are made after the final race and the jockeys have weighed in, the final result is official and Billy Ocean can take to the stage for 90 minutes of pop classics.
