You have to love a summer Monday at Windsor Racecourse. On Monday, July 20th, 2026, one of the best-loved Soul & Motown nights takes place. Prepare for the track to spring to life with the sound of Northern Soul.
There’s plenty of excitement on the turf. Some competitive thoroughbred racing takes place before live music takes over from the Edwin Starr Band. The band is renowned for delivering thundering shows featuring Soul & Motown songs from throughout the 60’s and 70’s. Disco favourites and other Motown artists’ best tunes will be heard, all by the banks of the Thames using one Britain’s best racetracks as the ideal backdrop.
Soul & Motown Racenight Timings & Location
To get to Windsor Racecourse for Soul & Motown night, head west on the M4. The track sits 25 miles west of London. The best way to arrive is by train, stopping at either the Winsor & Eton Central or Winsor & Eton Riverside stations. You can even arrive by boat if you prefer!
Regardless of how you arrive, the scenery will grab you and so will the atmosphere. Check out all this brilliant track has to offer by gaining a general admission ticket, a hospitality box or even by using the Riverside Boat Package. All options offer you a great day and night of racing, music and food.
Timings
The current timings for Soul & Motown Night with the Edwin Starr Band are:
- Gates open at 3:40pm (TBC)
- First race is due off at 5:10pm (TBC)
- Last race is due off at 8:40pm (TBC)
- The Edwin Starr Band takes to the stage after the final race
Once the final race of the night is over and the presentations are done, it’s time for the Soul & Motown music to take over on the big stage. Some of your favourite Northern Soul tunes will be belted out, but don’t forget to take in all the sporting action and betting opportunities before that happens.
Racing Action on Soul & Motown Race Night
The opening times and race timings can change. A full fixture list for Windsor will be released in the first half of 2026. Last year on the same race day there were eight races. We expect that line-up to be closely replicated. It was scheduled like this:
- Race 1 – 6-furlong nursery handicap
- Race 2 – 6-furlong novice stakes
- Race 3 – 6-furlong novice fillies’ stakes
- Race 4 – 1-mile, 2-furlong maiden stakes
- Race 5 – 6-furlong handicap
- Race 6 – 1-mile, 2-furlong fillies’ handicap
- Race 7 – 1-mile, 2-furlong handicap
- Race 8 – 1-mile handicap
Everything you need to know about the horses, jockeys, odds and stats will be in your racecard. You can pick up a copy when you arrive or use the digital version. Watch your horses and all the live odds, as well as action from elsewhere, on the big screen.
Make sure you get towards the rails when the horses are thundering up the home straight. You’ll catch a great view when they battle it out towards the winning line. You can also view them close up in the parade ring before each race. There are food & drink outlets, betting facilities, the Tote and everything else you need in all enclosures around the track.
