Chepstow Racecourse Events

Located just outside the town of Chepstow in Monmouthshire, South Wales, Chepstow Racecourse is one of Britain’s best-known jump racing venues and widely regarded as the home of top-level racing in Wales. There are also numerous Flat race fixtures here each year.

Situated right within the historic grounds of Piercefield Park near the River Wye, the course is as scenic as it is demanding, offering plenty of atmosphere alongside its great racing heritage. Opened in 1926, it is most famous for staging the Welsh Grand National on December 27 each year – a gruelling winter jumps race that attracts some of the biggest names in National Hunt racing and plenty of mud-splattered drama along the way.

The track itself is a stiff, left-handed circuit with a long uphill finish that regularly puts stamina to the test, especially during the tougher winter meetings. Jumps racing fixtures take centre stage from autumn through to spring, but the venue also hosts Flat racing during the summer months, giving it a busy year-round calendar. Big crowds, festive fixtures and competitive racing have helped Chepstow build a reputation as one of the UK’s most enjoyable race-day experiences.

Away from the track, Chepstow Racecourse is also a major events destination for South Wales and the South West. Throughout the year it hosts concerts, family fun days, conferences, exhibitions, weddings and seasonal celebrations. Thanks to its spacious grounds and modern hospitality facilities, the venue remains lively long after the final race has finished.
